COMMUNITY CHILD CARE NEEDS ASSESSMENT

Dear Community Members:

The Marshall Area YMCA has unveiled a new strategic plan to increase the impact that the Y makes in Marshall and our surrounding communities. The Y has the unique capacity to address many of the challenges facing the nation today. Through its new brand strategy and framework, the nonprofit will extend its reach into our surrounding communities to nuture the potential of youth and teens, improve the nation's health and well-being and provide opportunities to support neighbors.

More than nine months of analysis and research were conducted to develop our new strategic plan. All of the strategic ideas were narrowed down to our three strategic initiatives of the things that we should address or explore during the next three years. Our strategic initiatives tie directly into our new brand strategy and framework of our focus areas of Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility.

Child care was a common theme that came up many times during our research and strategic planning process. Under our Youth Development Strategic Initiative we would like to explore whether the Y should: Provide a safe value-based child care center where children can learn and grow in body, mind and spirit. We have developed a Child Care Taskforce and this Community Child Care Needs Assessment as our first step to the exploration process.

This is an assessment of child care needs of the Marshall community and surrounding areas. We would like to determine if there is a child care need in our community and if so, what age range. If you have parenting responsibilities, we would appreciate your time in helping us assess your needs.  Thank you for providing feedback on your child care needs.
