Guppy (Red Cross Level II) Prerequisites: Walk away from the wall of the pool, turn around & walk back; floating on front & back for 30 seconds & return to standing position; paddle on front, back & side for 25 yards with the aid of a float belt or 20 feet without. Thursday 4:30 - 5:15 pm Saturday 10:00 - 10:45 am or 11:20 - 12:05 pm
Minnow (Red Cross Level III) Prerequisites: Tread water for 20-30 seconds with or without a float belt; perform 10 water bobs with breaths; paddle on front, back & side for 25 yards without aid of float belt. Thursday 4:30 - 5:15 pm Saturday 10:00 - 10:45 am or 11:20 - 12:05 pm
Fish (Red Cross Level IV) Prerequisites: Tread water for 1 minute; swim 25 yards each of the front crawl with rhythmic breathing, backstroke & elementary backstroke. Saturday 10:00 - 10:45 pm
Flying Fish (Red Cross Level V) Prerequisites: Perform the front crawl, back stroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, & breast-stroke; tread water for three minutes with combination kicks. Saturday 11:20 - 12:05 pm
Shark (Red Cross Level VI) At this advanced level, swimmers focus on perfecting strokes and increasing endurance with open and flip turns. Students also learn advanced skills in boating, safety, and rescues. Prerequisites: Perform front crawl, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, & sidestroke with open turns; perform the butterfly. Saturday 11:20 - 12:05 pm
Adult Programs It’s never too late to learn how to swim or to brush up on swimming techniques! Novices and experienced swimmers will improve their confidence and abilities. Private and Semi-Private Swim Lesson (ages 5 and older) These lessons are designed to give participants individualized attention in order to improve or master their swimming skills. Together, the instructor, participants and/or parent determine the goals for the session and the curriculum is customized to meet these goals. Each lesson is half hour in length & may include 1 or 2 participants. Fee per Lesson: $12 YMCA Members $24 Program Participants
