Group Exercise

 

The Y has 60+ classes a week and they all come with membership! NO EXTRA CHARGE for any of our group exercise classes!

 

Group exercise is a great way to exercise; allowing you to go at your own intensity level alongside your friends and different exercises from class to class. Below are some of the classes that we offer on a regular basis. 

Step Circuit: A step workout mixed with muscle conditioning. We will alternate step with different muscle groups for 40 minutes and end with abdominal work.

Group Cycling: This class uses Lemond group cycling bikes and is designed to take you through several different training regimens to increase your cardio endurance.

* Limit of 10 per class, sign-up required to ensure your spot.

* There is a $5 "No-show" fee on all registered participants that do not show for a class.


Muscle Sculpt: A class that emphasizes muscle development to shape and mold muscle groups giving members a full body workout.

Chair Yoga: This class is designed for people who want a good stretch but do not want to get down on the floor. Gentle lower and upper body stretches - ideal for people with arthritis or other joint problems.

Yoga Basics: Yoga is a psycho-physical discipline that focuses on posture, breathing, and meditation. The class will help improve physical fitness, mental clarity, greater self-understanding, stress control, and general well-being. This class is for all skill levels.

Intermediate Yoga: Participants should advance to an intermediate yoga class only after taking part in Yoga Basics for 4 or more consecutives weeks in order for you to execute all poses correctly and effectively.

Advanced Yoga:  A set series of advanced poses starting with two different Sun Salutations. It sequences from standing poses to seated poses interspersed with vinyasas (more sun salutations).

Pilates: An abdominal, low back, and glutes exercise class that focuses on breathing, flexibility, posture, muscular strength and muscular balance.

Instructors Choice: A complete aerobic workout which may be kickboxing, circuit, or step exercises mixed together with muscle burning and toning exercises for a complete body workout. This class gives you the ability to work at your own pace which is great for anyone.

Butts N' Gutts: Great 30min. class over the lunch hour the works your entire body with muscle toning and core exercises.

30/20/10: A complete mix of cycling, toning, and core work. This class will move through 30 minutes of cycling, 20 minutes of toning exercises, and ending with 10 strong minutes of core work. Great workout for all levels!

Happy Hour Basics: A 60 minute workout structured for the beginner level participant = cardio plus toning.

Kickboxing: A 60 minute workout structured for the person looking for a different type of class utilizing punching and kicking combinations along with toning exercises. The kickbox circut class will intermix cardio kickboxing moves and toning.

So Hard Core: This class is designed for men and women and will include muscle work for the core and flexibility moves. Chisel your chest, back, shoulders, and abs with this intense workout.

Boot Camp: One hour of intense cardio exercises from kickboxing to bosu step; while also focusing on muscle toning through hand weight & band exercise, and utilizing gliders for leg strength.

N.O.W. "No Opportunity Wasted": This 30min class is perfect for anyone who is cut short for time and looking for a fast workout. No excuses means, 'No Opportunity Wasted', especially with this class of intermixed cardio, core, and strength conditioning.

M&M (Miles & Muscles): This class is designed for our wonderful Older Adult crowd! Come enjoy some fun walking, balance work, and light muscle toning. Invite a friend to join in!

SilverSneakers® Muscular Strength & Range of Motion: Move to the music with a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of motion, and activity of living skills. Hand-held weight, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

SilverSneakers® Cardio Circuit: Get that heart pumping! Participants stand for the entire 45 minute class which means our legs are working non-stop. The class also focuses on some strength and stretching exercises.

Mommy to Be: Light but fun workouts for the expectant mother. Light cardio and weight lifting combined with stretching and yoga type moves is perfect for those soon to be Mommies (any expectant mother can join - no matter how far along you are in your pregnancy).

Zumba: Shake it up with this fun, energetic salsa and hip shaking aerobics class. You won't even realize you are working out - let loose and have a ball with this dance based cardio class.
