Celebrate the season with the Marshall Area YMCA at Run for a Claus. Whether you run or walk, this festive evening 1-mile dash takes you through the glowing holiday light displays at Independence Park.
Enjoy hot chocolate and candy canes around the warmth of a fire while spending time with friends and neighbors. Every step supports local community care: race proceeds benefit Prairie Home Hospice and Community Care and the Marshall Area YMCA Y Cares Campaign.
EVENT SCHEDULE
| 5:00 PM | Check-in opens at the covered picnic shelter by the parking lot off East Lyon Street. |
| 5:30 PM | The run and walk begins through the park displays. |
| Post-Race | Gather around the fire pit for complimentary hot chocolate, candy canes, and holiday cheer. |
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE
This event is open to everyone in the Marshall area community.
- Runners and Walkers: Complete the 1-mile route at your own pace.
- All Ages: Children, teens, adults, and seniors are welcome to join.
- Holiday Spirit: Festive hats, holiday sweaters, and Santa suits are encouraged.
- Strollers and Pets: Strollers and leashed pets are welcome.
WHAT TO BRING & ARRIVAL DETAILS
December nights in Minnesota can be brisk. Dress in warm layers so you stay comfortable before, during, and after the event.
- Check-in location: Look for the check-in table at the covered picnic area next to the parking lot off East Lyon Street.
- What to wear: This is not a competitive, chip-timed run. You're welcome to wear cold-weather running gear or festive apparel.
- Parking: Free parking is available in the Independence Park parking lot off East Lyon Street.
REGISTRATION & DEADLINES
Registration fee: $15 per participant, plus the online registration processing fee.
Gift bag deadline: Sign up by November 19 to guarantee your festive holiday gift bag.
Inclement weather and refund policy: In case of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled for December 18, 2026. Refunds will not be available.
